Winners of the Hills District Building and Design Award

The interior resonates with the natural habitat of the rural property, the aim was to connect the outdoor in by using nature inspired elements throughout. This can be immediately seen with the rich timber flooring, windows and doors to the green calm tones of the wall colours. Carefully selected artworks to celebrate the country landscape were chosen. Guests will see subtle reinterpretations of material finishes through the home. All materials and furnishings have been specifically researched to provide a balanced, calm and restful country home. Five spaces reinforce our overall chosen aesthetic:

Entry Foyer:

As the doors open you are visually greeted by the magnitude of the uninterrupted view of the stunning woods, a green sea of calm. Our interior is in complete response to this view. The cathedral ceiling of this formal entry, demanded a floor to ceiling fireplace design, integrating locally found natural material of sandstone. Classic and understated in material, yet grand in scale. Handmade, floral etched cowhide rug sit with mohair velvet and aniline leather grand armchairs. Elegant forged candelabras give timeless appeal. All finishes are true to a country home and will always give an established sense of longevity.

Master bedroom:

This retreat style space completely focuses on the restful & calming view of nature. With no interruptions to the view, it is pure peace. High quality finishes & subtle tones with a touch of glamour. Honed marble wood burning fireplace, wool carpets, velvet chairs, and full sheers to soften and add a dreamy transparency. Block out blinds and semi-circle shutters are both motorized. All materials complement the adjacent landscape colours. Metallic sheens give a natural highlight and sense of luxury yet it is understated and soothing in its overall effect.

Cinema:

The cinema entry starts with a sense of drama, draped heavy velvet curtains rest against a smoky mirror mosaic tiled wall. An ottoman sits illuminated by 3 highly decorative pendant lights. A black and mosaic mirrored bathroom conveniently adjacent. Luxury recliners sit within a wall to wall of metallic snakeskin patterned block out curtains. Opposite a striped wallpaper that brings in the metallic plus the beauty of the timber architraves and skirting’s, creating a cohesive entertaining environment. A black gloss bar with mood lighting sits at the back for interval drinks, with wine cellar close by.

Main Guest Bathroom:

The beauty and implicitly of natural stone is used to give a timeless finish and is in keeping with the country home landscape. Handpicked slabs of honed Calcutta rest with large format limestone tiles, giving unconscious warmth to the senses and pure practically. Bespoke joinery using earthy greens that are pulled out from veins in the specifically chosen Calcutta and views of the trees are all that needed for decoration. A spa bath and large shower, heated towel rails and horizontal mirror are practical, functional and luxurious. Adjacent is a separate matching WC.
